Malpeque Oysters are raised on Prince Edward Island, Canada. They have a briny flavor that is reminiscent of the sea. They are best when eaten raw on the half shell. They have no cholesterol, and are high in many vitamins and minerals.
An interesting note about these oysters; in 1900, these oysters were packed up, and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean, where they were judged by Burleigh Brothers Main Bed to be the “best oyster in the world.” They are available June – October.
